Here for Games Con 2025, £3,600+ raised for Mind!

Two weeks ago, we raised over £3,600 for Herefordshire Mind at Here for Games Con 2025, but equally important is that hundreds of people enjoyed up to 32 hours of free entertainment. We had 30 volunteers dedicated to teaching games. Games of all sorts from 20 player ‘the Traitors style games’ through to Dungeons and Dragons to Jenga. 10 people will win a free copy of a game just by playing it.

We had a huge range of guests from young to old, from folks all over the country to locals discovering gaming for the first time, finding a new way to connect with family and friends and enjoy free time without screens.

✔If you are attended what was your highlight?✔

Our ‘bring and buy’ helped folks raise money and nab a bargain. Huge thanks go to The Core for providing tasty and great value food, helping keep the cost of the event down for everyone.

As we approach mental health awareness week (12th to 18th May) It’s a perfect time to remind everyone there is a strong link between wellbeing and health benefits of gaming and communities, connecting with people, learning skills, mindfulness, purpose and developing confidence.

Be kind to each other and yourself, time spent doing things you enjoy is not wasted! It’s time invested in your health.

Herefordshire Board Gamer’s purpose is to give back to our community by providing free social events. We pride ourselves on having a game for everyone and creating a safe environment.

We’ve raised over £28,000 for Herefordshire Mind and nearly £31,000 in total for charity and other good causes.

We meet at least twice a month typically the first Thursday and third Sunday at the Herdsman pub in Hereford city centre.

We also run other game events including Blood on the Clocktower, role playing games (RPGs) such as Dungeons and Dragons and LGBTQIA+ events.

As well as free events we have a lending library and knowledge base to support you.

🎲600 games, 50 jigsaws, and 50 RPG to borrow for free. This includes one of the largest collections of giant and life-size games the country?

💥An equipment store, of tables, chairs, lanyards and more. We lend these to other communities and events.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Advice and articles on running accessible events.

❤Advice and articles on mental health, privilege and gender inclusive language.

We also have a pop up shop selling a small but excellent range of games for all the family including children’s games from £10.

If you want to know about attending our events, please ask. All welcome, all abilities, no experience necessary.

Huge thanks to all the companies and individuals who support and help keep our events free (free attendance events are NOT free to provide).

Our next event is Sunday 18th May at the Herdsman 12:00 to 23:00. Free entry. Join us Herefordshire Board Gamers Community
