Set-up time: minimal
All In Predictions is a poker variant where you score by having a good hand and guessing who has the best hand at the end of the round.
All In Predictions Rules Description:
You start All In Predictions with a hand of five cards and a prediction token. In the center of the table there is a frame with slots for six cards. The pot starts with four runes. Each round two cards are placed face up in the frame.
On your turn you play a card, pass or go all in. When you play a card it might allow you to draw a card from the deck or uncovered cards in the frame. Other card abilities let you get information about another player’s hand or gain runes. If you pass, you add a card to the frame but may still play next time it is your turn. And if you go all in, you add two cards to the frame and can only pass on your following turns. Only one player may go all in per round.
Once the frame is full with two rows of cards the round ends. Then continuing in player order, each player puts their prediction token in front of the player that they believe has the best poker hand. You then get runes based on your hand’s rank and player’s that predicted right split the pot.
Between rounds one and two the pot grows to six runes and for round three it consists of eight runes. After three rounds the game ends and the player with the most runes wins the game.
Quick Review of All In Predictions:
All In takes a game many people know how to play and adds a few interesting wrinkles. It is easy to get to the table because it is easy to teach those wrinkles and its low play time. This game is enjoyable for gamers and non-gamers alike and accessible to a variety of ages.
The components are very nice. The cards look and feel great, the runes are thick cardboard, and prediction tokens are wooden. Everything is designed well and fits the theme. The rulebook is easy to read and follow too.
All In Predictions is a light, fun game that you can play with almost anyone, especially if they know how to play poker. I like that there is a balance between guessing the round’s winner correctly and getting a good hand on your own. Sometimes it can be hard to do both things but the abilities on the cards help with both.
Pick this up if you are looking to add a fun accessible card game to your collection. All In Predictions makes a great filler game for longer game nights or for playing with family and friends that are not as into hobby gaming.
