Festive Top Fives: Stocking Fillers
Presenting the second in our series of ‘Top 5’ posts this December, here to provide some inspiration to those struggling with Christmas shopping. Today we’re focusing on gifts at the smaller end of the spectrum. Here are our top 5 stocking fillers, all packing a LOT of fun into a little box!
Bandida and her brother Bandido are genuinely pocket-sized games, even smaller than a standard deck of cards. Work together to either help to capture Bandida before she sneaks off through the tunnels... or turn rogue and help her get away! Super-simple to learn and compact enough to carry about just in case an opportunity arises to play.
Kluster has some of the strongest table-appeal we've ever come across, all packed into a box the size of a paperback. To play, simply take turns to place magnets inside the string... without them sticking together. As soon as you've seen the stones leap towards each other you'll be desperate to play with them, we promise!
Red7 is an oldy but SUCH a goody. Take turns to add a card to the set in front of you OR change the win condition by adding a card to the middle, making sure that by the time you're done, your array beats everyone else's. Streamlined but subtle, like all the best strategy games, this is one you'll keep coming back to.
Cockroach Poker has long been a Treehouse favourite, and is a perfect choice for those who fancy themselves as good liars (or perhaps good lie detectors: both are valuable skills in this game!). No one wins in Cockroach poker... but the least believable player will surely lose, and you'll all have plenty of laughs along the way.
A Little More Conversation is something totally different. This card 'game' is barely a game at all, but more of a series of conversation starters, designed to get everyone around the table talking, reminiscing and generally enjoying each other's company. Sometimes, we think that's really the main aim of bringing a game to the table, and this one will take you straight there with no hesitation, deviation or repetition!
