Board Games for Fall

All the coziest Board Games for Fall! **Updated for 2025** The seasons of the year have a huge impact on me and my gaming habits. When September rolls around, I’m ready to light a candle, put on a knit sweater, and break out all the cozy fall themed games in our library. Maybe it’s the color scheme, maybe it’s the plethora of theme options, but there’s just nothing quite as cozy as a good fall board game. It’s the kick of to the best months of the year to snuggle up and enjoy a board game inside. These board games are the perfect addition to the crisp fall days. And if you’re like us and live in year round summer, then they’re great for bringing a bit of those fall vibes inside. Fake it till you make it, friends! I’ve collected some of our favorite board games that have all of the fall vibes. Grab a spiced drink, some candy corn peanuts and you’re set for game night! Fall Games with Critters Meadow As a connoisseur of critter games, it is my duty and pleasure to put Meadow first on this list. Often overshadowed by giants in her field like Wingspan and Everdell, Meadow is my favorite cozy animal game. Meadow is an absolutely beautiful medium weight strategy game. Paying great at all player counts and particularly well at two, it’s a game you’ll come back to again and again throughout year, though Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons to visit the Meadow.  Everdell The whole vibe of this game leans fall and I’m not mad about it. Everdell is a wonderful worker placement game. Games take about 60-90 minutes so it’s the perfect time to cozy up and build your bustling critter village.  Calico Our newest fall acquisition! Can you get any more Cozy Fall vibes from a game about sewing quilts to attract cuddly cats? The answer is no.  Cascadia A delightful puzzle! Place habitat tiles to build out land areas for the wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. I love how endlessly replayable this game is! Barenpark I subconsciously reach for this game once September hits and there’s a reason! I love the calming and cozy color scheme and puzzly tile placement. No better time to build a bear park than in the fall! Flamecraft This one made the list because something about the theme of fire breathing dragons, magic enchantments, and artisan shops says fall to me. Maybe it’s the touch of magic and whimsy that has it having a foot in fall and another in halloween but it just feels right on this list.  The Fox in the Forest A two player trick taking game that is quick, dare I say, tricky. It’s a perfect card game for two this fall.  Creature Comforts When I asked on Instagram which Fall games people love, so many of you chimed in with Creature Comforts and I can see why! All about preparing for winter, you’ll spend your time harvesting goods from the forest and collecting the items you need to make your home cozy for the long winter ahead.  Garden Heist This adorable game is perfect for families with young kids! It works like a game of hide and seek where players will try to get their racoon all the way to the house by hiding behind elements in the garden so that the playing inside the house can’t see them. It’s so cute and led to the biggest laughs from the kids! Fall Games in Nature Forest Shuffle Build a forest of trees and attract wildlife to each one. Forest Shuffle is a smart and even educational game that is perfect for those who love to squeeze every last point out of their turn. Evergreen One of the best games about trees you’ll find! You’ll plant and grow your trees in this puzzly game perfect for playing with a fall breeze and a pumpkin treat. Trailblazers If you love to go camping in the fall, Trailblazers is a must. Draft and play cards from your hand to create different trail routes. I absolutely love the travel edition — perfect for camping! Parks Whether going in person or from the comfort of your home, Fall is the prime time to visit our National Parks. I love how perfectly Parks blends the theme of visiting a National Park into the the game. Take pictures, hike paths, collect memories, bring your gear, and prepare to enjoy the Parks. For an even faster take on the game, try the standalone Trails Three Sisters Grow pumpkins, beans, and corn and tend your garden! This is a more complex roll and write that will provide a deeper strategy crunch compared to other dice games! Photosynthesis  I can’t get over the beautiful trees in this game! Take your trees through their life cycle in this beautiful strategy game.  Arboretum A beautiful card game filled with gorgeous tree art. Easy to learn, quick to play, and a great choice for fall. Viticulture One of our favorite date night games! You’ll manage and grow your vineyard throughout the seasons. It’ll have you scheduling your next tasting at your local vineyard!  Earth Earth is a card engine ecosystem game with 365 unique cards featuring flora, fauna, and terrain. Medium weight with about 60-90 minute play time so get comfy and cozy before diving in! Board Games that Just “Feel like Fall.” Middle Ages We recently played this all afternoon with a fresh loaf of pumpkin bread and a bowl of candy corn and peanuts and let me tell you fall officially began that day. I love the art and vibes Middle Ages has. Strategic yet quick for families. Harvest Harvest couldn’t get any more “fall-coded!” This is a fun and tricky worker placement farming game where you’ll manage your limited resources to gather, plant, grow, and harvest various crops to score points. It’s easy to learn but highly strategic and surprisingly tight during game play....
