Frequently Asked Questions
Website and Platform
Is Tabuney an official website of a tabletop game publisher?
No. Tabuney is not affiliated with any publisher, retailer, or manufacturer. However, we would love to collaborate with partners from all fields to promote tabletop gaming together! 🥰
What languages are supported?
The site and flowcharts are available in Deutsch, English, Español, Français, 日本語 and 中文. Use the language switcher in the header to change languages.
Why can’t I find a particular game?
If completeness is what you are looking for, be sure to check out BGG 🫡. It has an enormous database of tabletop games, along with countless editions and variations, yet even that does not cover every game in existence. Comprehensive coverage is not Tabuney’s goal. However, if you would like to recommend a great game, we are always happy to consider adding it.
Can I request a game to be added?
Of course! You can find a Suggest a Game button on the game search page. Click it, fill in the basic details, and submit your suggestion. We will review it as soon as possible and consider adding the game to Tabuney.
Can I use Tabuney for free?
Yes. Tabuney offers three access levels: Guest, Free Member, and Subscriber. Features and access vary by level. For details, please visit Membership Plans.
Features and Content
How does the AI Rulesbot work?
Search for your game, then ask the Rulesbot any rules question in plain language — it answers based on that game's official rulebook. Free accounts can preview it, Members get 13 questions a week, and Subscribers get unlimited questions.
How is Tabuney Rulesbot different from general AI?
| Comparison | Tabuney Rulesbot | General AI |
|---|---|---|
| Number of games covered | Limited | 👍🏼 Very broad |
| Basis for answers | 👍🏼 Uses only the official rulebook for the specified edition | Sources may mix rules from different editions of games with the same name and may also include community opinions |
| Can it make up answers due to AI hallucinations? | 👍🏼 Less likely. If an answer cannot be determined from the rulebook, it will say that it cannot be certain | More likely, especially with edge cases or unusual situations, where it may use general knowledge to make a judgment not explicitly supported by the rulebook |
Are Rulesbot’s answers always correct?
Not always! That is why we invite users to rate each Rulesbot response. Your feedback helps us keep improving and allows other players to receive more accurate answers in the future. When it comes to being "absolutely correct" about rules, even games themselves may receive revised rulebooks, errata, or FAQ updates over time 😂. We therefore encourage you to think of Rulesbot as an always-available rules assistant. It gives you a reliable starting point to work from, while leaving you free to use your own judgment, question an interpretation, or even find a better solution.
Is Tabuney’s content generated by AI?
We use AI and various information technology tools to assist with content creation. However, the kind of content Tabuney aims to create goes beyond mechanical processes such as information extraction, where accuracy is the primary concern. We want to draw on human experience and judgment to create atmosphere, character, and a distinctive sense of taste. At the same time, AI does help us work at a much faster pace. We currently use it mainly for initial data extraction and basic processing, while gaps, corrections, and refinements are still handled by people. Beyond content creation, AI plays an essential role in our brainstorming, programming, and translation work.
What is the rules flowchart?
A visual, step-by-step flowchart of a game's setup and turn structure, so you can follow the rules without reading the whole rulebook. Members can browse the basic ruleset in English; Subscribers get every ruleset in all supported languages, plus printing.
What is a GM script?
A ready-to-read, first-person script a game master can read aloud to explain setup and rules in under 5 minutes — great for teaching a game at the table. GM scripts are available to Subscribers.
