Play To Wins at Southern Board Game Fest
Two months ago, I gave a sneak peek at some of the play-to-win titles we are offering at Southern Board Game Fest this coming weekend. We are now just a few days away, and we pretty much know what games will be there. (Although I am still hoping for one or two last minute adds. Cross your fingers!)
As a reminder, if you have a badge for SoBo, all you have to do is check out a game from the PTW library (it’s basically two tables with games on top) and scan in the badge of yourself and everyone else who plays with you, and all of you will be automatically entered for a chance to win the game that night.
It’s a win-win — you get to try a new game, the publisher gets it in your hands for trying out, and we’ve got three vendors on site who either will have the game right there for purchase or can order it for you. Maybe that’s a win-win-win? I lost count.
The schedule of games may change slightly, but on Saturday, some of the highlights of the games that we will be featuring, in no particular order:
—Above and Below: Haunted from Red Raven Games, a fun euro-style adventure game that has been refreshed with a neat little ghost mechanic
—Australis from KOSMOS, an interesting ocean themed tile laying game that I want to try
—The Four Doors, a new co-op game from the team of Leacock, Riddle and Pinchbeck
—Draft & Write Records, an awesome game that I’ve played a few times from Inside Up Games
—Origin Story, a superhero trick-taking game from Stonemaier Games
…and many more.
On Sunday, I spied out a few games that I can recommend or want to try myself:
—Formaggio, the new standalone expansion of Formage from Road To Infamy Games (R2i Games)
—Seers Catalog, a unique twist on trick-taking that I really enjoyed from Bézier Games
—Studies in Sorcery, one of my favorite games published by Weird Giraffe Games
—Point Galaxy, the third in the “Point” universe from Flatout Games
—Kites, a real time co-op game from Floodgate Games
—Geaux Parade, a new card game set in the world of New Orleans Mardi Gras parades from a local publisher in NOLA
…and many, many more.
If you want the complete list, we should have an email going out to all badge holders. I will try to link to it when I can. But the best way is to just wander over to the Play To Win table on Friday night and get a head start on all of the games.
